Patricia Arquette stars as a woman who has a pretty stereotypical life
outside of her foreshadowing dreams and ability to communicate with the
dead. She has kids, a job (solving crimes for the district attorney) and a
rocket scientist husband who is a skeptical but supportive believer in her
unusual gift.
The show is based on the real life of a crime-solving psychic, Allison
DuBois, a 34-year-old Arizona woman who has been recognized for her psychic
abilities since she was six years old.
"Every episode is not a biography of my life, it is simply based on my life
experiences," DuBois, who has written two books on the supernatural, says on
her website. "It is an accurate portrayal of my life and the people who
share it, with a little Hollywood magic thrown in."
"Medium" also features Jake Weber as Joe DuBois, Maria Lark as Bridgette
DuBois, Sofia Vassilieva as Ariel DuBois, Miguel Sandoval as D.A. Manuel
Devalos and David Cubitt as Detective Lee Scanlon.
